Splash of Fun

I've squeezed in just one little project this week, and it was more decor than anything else. These homemade kitchen canisters are handy for your kitchen space, and can be designed to any style.

Plus, they're quick and easy to make!

I started with a former Pirouette canister, any metal canister will do, as long as it suits your needs for size. The nice thing about these is that we happened to have them around since my husband loves these. So we enjoyed them, and now we're using the container for the long term! (Which gives the added green bonus, too!)

All you need is a metal canister, wallpaper (I happened to have some that someone had given me), glue (a glue stick is the best), duck tape of the color you'd like to add to your wallpaper, and something to cut the paper with (I recommend a craft knife and cutting mat, but scissors will work fine).

Chop the paper to your dimensions, and put a streak of glue down the side of the canister. Start your paper there, and wrap it around to just overlapping. Then another strip of glue on the canister and on the edge of the paper will adhere it smoothly to the canister.

And here's the finished product! (This was the first, so it's actually the worst. I recommend wrapping the tape around the top, it makes it feel more complete.

So, make yours to your taste or to match your room, and of course, this is easy to adapt for other uses! (And it took me just about 30 minutes to make all three of these.)
